Succisa pratensis
A clump-forming perennial with ball-shaped heads of lilac-blue florets atop slender stems and toothed basal leaves. Thrives in moist meadows, damp grasslands, or along stream margins where it pairs beautifully with Fragaria vesca (Wild Strawberry), Prunella vulgaris (Selfheal), and Thymus serpyllum (Wild Thyme)—all pet-friendly companions sharing its love of sunlit, moisture-retentive soils.

Care: Prefers humus-rich, consistently moist but well-draining soil. Water regularly during dry spells to maintain even dampness—avoid waterlogging. A top-dressing of compost in early spring encourages vigorous shoot and flower production. Divide clumps every 3–4 years in autumn to rejuvenate. Best grown in the ground; in containers, choose a pot at least 10 inches deep with good moisture retention.
Allergen Information: Low allergy risk—blooms July–September. Produces minimal pollen but attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies; individual sensitivities may vary and can develop over time.
